Twice the fun

Filed under: Technology — steegness @ 4:38 pm

So Jason mentioned that he only checks his Livejournal friendslist when trying to keep up with those around him. This made me sad.

But then I found a plugin that will automatically crosspost to Livejournal, and this entry should be the inaugural volley. That made me happy.

Odd as it may seem, this makes me less likely to post comments on your blog, because I’m used to commenting directly to LJ posts. Meanwhile, I’ll be unsubscribing from your RSS feed, because I don’t want to see the same thing in two places.

A valiant salvo. But, man… now I gotta go outside LJ to comment, and be all entering my name and junk?

Clearly, I should’ve just thought of the RSS feed. But I’m a luddite despite being a programmer.

  3. Skwid Says:

It’s surprising how many LJ’ers are RSS luddites. Get with the program, peoples!

Hey! Some of my best “friends” are RSS feeds! I just, y’know, never think of them unless someone points it out.

So will Jason use RSS? Or do I crosspost to appease him?

On a side note, this is more commenting than a post has seen in ages, so SOMETHING must be right. 🙂

  6. Jason Says:

I could easily do RSS… were I to do so, however, you might well expect to see comments there.

Cuz, see, also, I don’t think to check back on posts I reply to for comments, either, so, like, I’d never have known about the cliffhanger here if I hadn’t randomly gone “I wonder if Steeg’s crosspost thing is still working, or if I missed a post, I should go check his real blog!” I’ve gotten spoiled by reply notifications in LJ.

    There’a a comments RSS too!

  8. Jason Says:

Do you see? Do you see how pants I am at checking for replies?

You people, with your RSS-a-ma-jigs… Wouldn’t that RSS cover, like, every comment made to your blog? That could get… prohibitive… on an LJ friendslist. I’d have to, like, think about things, engage in creative problem-solving and shit…

Fine, fine – you win. You’re syndicated at Steegness_Feed from your RSS, and I even added a Steegness_Cmnts. Happy? 😉
