Mom had the surgery that she didn’t have before. Word is that things went quite well. Further word is that she might be home as soon as today. I’ve not yet talked to Dad today, so this is admittedly (slightly) presumptive.
In other news, we went to Artscape and an Orioles game this weekend. Hooray for Baltimore!
The CA Swingers were finally toppled yesterday, with a final of… 6-1 or so (I wasn’t keeping track).
Yours truly, 1 for 2. Pop to right, line single up the middle. OBP to .777. I also got some action at third base (No, not like that).
The CA Swingers remain undefeated, though this time by virtue of a tie, 6-6. Yours truly officially went 1 for 3, but I reached on fielder’s choice for one of those missing hits (the other was a line drive to short).
On Base Percentage remains a respectable .857 (6 for 7), as I also had a walk today. Oh, and that one official hit? A two-run home run of the leg-it-out (as opposed to the over-the-fence) variety.
The ambiguous title owes to the fact that even though this is the second game we’ve played, we now stand at 3-0-1 at the end of week five. Two weeks were forfeits, today was makeup from a rainout, and we’ve had one more game rained out (scheduled for August).

Since this just came up in discussion at work two days ago (when I changed the channel to watch Phineas and Ferb in the lunchroom), this Geekdad post seems pretty topical.
Mom got home from the hospital on Friday afternoon. I was in Allentown, hence the update now and not sooner. PT is on the horizon off the board, pending I-Won’t-Fall-Down promises, but for now, all is well and good.
Mom continues to recover. She’d been intibated as she has some fluid in her lungs, so the ventilator was helping her breathe while they drained her dry and such. The doctors had planned on removing the tube yesterday morning or so.
Mom had other plans. She broke free of her restraints and removed the tube herself.
Trouble with that is that it stunted her recovery a bit. You see, there’s a process involved with removing that tube, owing to a little balloon at the end that helps keep it in place in your airway. Removing it with that balloon still inflated irritated her throat, so she’s near-voiceless and in minor (additional) pain.
Still, she’s getting better, if not as quickly as I’d hoped. The plan is to move her out of Critical Care and into a cardiac unit today. The originally-planned procedure may or may not still happen, at the whim of the cardiologist.
So long as she stays stable, my plan is still to head out of town this weekend. But speeding tickets be damned if something goes wrong.
Mom’s in the hospital. She went in yesterday for a bypass surgery, but decided to have some “cardiac distress” instead, which apparently means no surgery and more machines than I’ve ever seen anyone hooked up to before in real life.
She’s crappy, but stable, and with a decent outlook. More to come as I know it.
