Tonight, Family Night, included a dinner at TGI Friday’s. The fried macaroni and cheese was delish.
The meal went quite well. Everyone ate their food, Sara pooped in the potty instead of in the booth, and dessert was yummy.
So we go to leave, and as I’m standing near the door, waiting for Julie to get her coat on, a man approaches me.
“Excuse me, did you go to Woodhome Elementary?”
“Yes, I did,” I say, trying to place a name to the face. It doesn’t happen.
“Were you Puck?”
“I was,” I say, further intrigued.
“I’m Mrs. Wilson’s son.” (Mrs. Wilson, for those playing along at home, was the Gifted and Talented Education Teacher who directed the version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream that we put on in fifth grade. We also did Romeo and Juliet in my fourth grade year.)
Apparently he remembered my face because at that time, I was the most awesome person ever to him.
As of Friday evening, I am now a green belt in Taekwondo. They made me kick through a PAIR of boards for my break. I did it, but I gave them the hairy eyeball about it the whole time.
Tuesday nights are now Family Nights, in which we may eat out, play family games, perform some kind of family activity, or some combination thereof.
Sara tried to hug Max today. It did not end well. Two gallons of water ended up on my office carpet, rather near my computer.
I have a new PC game, courtesy of a fine man in the TacticalGamer community who was seized by the spirit of giving. All I had to do was tell a Chuck Norris joke.

19 days until the party. Headcount stands in the neighborhood of 30, with 28 confirmed heads, and three maybe heads. We’re going to need the Knights Of Columbus to donate a hall for next year at this rate.
How fortunate am I that I have the ability to do this? How scary is it that I have this good fortune? Here’s a hint; the answers are the same.
I know part of it is Julie’s new job, and the schedule that came along with it. Maybe most of it even, but there seems to be less time for extra things nowadays. I’m in bed by midnight (usually) where I used to be up until 2AM or later before.
Less gaming. Less internet wandering. Less coding. Less… “extra”.
Is it a bad thing? Am I focusing on the things that mean more? Or am I neglecting the things that make me, well, me? It seems like I’m doing more family-oriented things, which is good, but I go to sleep still wanting to have done more in the day, but being too tired (and/or rational about sleep duration) to stay up and do it.
Meaning? Dunno. Maybe. Or not.
