UselessPython back up!

WOOHOO!

After nearly six months of things not working they way that they were supposed to, and me being TOTALLY CLUELESS as to why that was, I finally figured out the issues that were holding UselessPython back, and with their subsequent correction, UP is back on the map!

Over 200 downloads already, and it’s only been back up a day. Feels good. :)

Count to 31 on One Hand you say? THE DICKENS, you say.

Well click the link, you old-tyme speaker you, and take note of the brave new world.

*edit: Note that you can count to 1023 on two hands, if you can handle the HEAT.

Scrabble

So, post Natural Selection, a few admins have taken up Scrabble in the late night to while away the hours. Specifically, we’re over here playing a flash version.

And we find that me knowing a buttload of Z words is useful!

Back-Of-House changes

Made a couple more changes so that the paparazzi wouldn’t photograph my… oh wait.

My changes are because of spam. We’re knockin’ ‘em out at a base level now. The shoutbox might still be iffy, but I think even that will get better with time.

It’s hard being popular.

Fun with Comment Spam

Filed under: Technology — steegness @ 8:48 am

Due to recent events, I tacked on a spam guard for comments. The spam is getting more and more interesting as time goes on. Some of the commentary received in this latest batch:
“He also tells me that he would really like to tie you up sometime.”
“It was puke not poo. Does that make it better or worse? I suppose it depends on your theory of cat intentionality”
“Ability to name all the US States in alphabetical order AND their respective capital cities. (Capital of Maine, anyone?)”

And my personal favorite (I was tempted to leave this one in, even…):
“Frivolous bastardisation of our punctuation is one of the key witnesses to the current decline of our wonderful nation.”

Nestle to buy Jenny Craig for $600 million

I’d like to thank Don for pointing me to this delicious article. Only if Pampers bought Trojan could this possibly be more ironic, I think.

“Oogabooga”

Law Blog » The Law Blog Goes Down Under: “Oogabooga” & the Law

I need to blog this, if only for my love of language. Excerpt:

Instead, the judge concluded the word had racist overtones. Embarking on an investigation into the origins of “oogabooga,” the judge cited such disparate sources as James Cook’s famed travel writings a film review of the last year’s King Kong. The review of Peter Jackson’s remake said, “Jackson’s cavalcade of oogabooga savages makes ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’ seem like a monument to ethnic sensitivity.” He also cited a successful racism suit in the U.S. where an employee complained of being called “oogabooga” by a co-worker.
